BLACK LIGHT THEATRE PRAGUE

​Black Light Theatre (in Czech černé divadlo) or simply 'Black Theatre’ is a theatrical performance style that is characterized by the use of black box theatre augmented by black light illusion.

 

This form of theatre originates from Asia and can be found in many places around the world. It has become a specialty of Prague, where many theatres have adopted this style - from 1970 it is "home of black light theatre" thanks to many important artists starting from Mr. Jiří Srnec. The distinctive characteristics of black theatre' are the use of black curtains, a darkened stage, and 'black lighting' (UV light), paired with fluorescent costumes in order to create intricate visual illusions.

​Černé divadlo je druh divadelní produkce. Spočívá ve využití principu černého kabinetu, kdy na zatemněném jevišti nejsou černě oddění herci s rekvizitami z hlediska diváka vidět proti černému pozadí. Rekvizity, předměty a objekty, osvětlené zdroji ultrafialové záření nebo pohyblivými bodovými reflektory, se tím stávají schopné pohybu a tedy i vlastního osobitého života.

 

Černé divadlo má svůj prapůvod v Asii a v dnešní době se v různých podobách dá nalézt po celém světě.  Praha se považuje za domov černého divadla. V současnosti v Praze nalezneme okolo 10 černých divadel. Tento fenomén začal okolo roku 1970 díky panu Jiřímu Srncovi a pokračoval mnoha dalšími umělci až do dnešní podoby.
